However, they decided to give a primary education to the girls if they wore a burka. But people feared going out. Because of Malala and her father’s outspoken views, they received death threats. So Malala’s father decided to send her to a boarding school out of the city. But she did not want to go.
Her identity about writing to the BBC was revealed. So she received international coverage. She received Pakistan’s first youth peace prize in 2011 and was nominated for the international children’s peace prize. As she wrote against the Taliban, the Taliban wanted to kill her. Then one day in 2012, a gunman entered her school and shot her. Although she survived, she was in critical condition. After recovery, she temporarily moved to the west midlands with her family.
A UN special Envoy visited Malala when she was hospitalized and launched a petition in her name.
Because of her efforts, she was awarded the Nobel peace prize in 2014.
