We all have hopes and dreams to achieve in different aspects of life. But before we think of how to achieve them, we tend to think of all the obstacles that might come our way. That is the natural human mindset! Here is one such story of making an obstacle become a blessing.
We find this story interesting for a couple of reasons. One is the love of sports of this person who is not an outstanding character. And the other is his undying bond with his mother. For him running builds a unique bridge between him and his disabled mother.

Silvia and Eric Domingo Roldan started running a marathon together, with Eric pushing the wheelchair to the finish line with Silvis. It was so unusual and unique. The mother has so many health issues that she has no choice but to use the wheelchair for the rest of her life. But her so- ambitious sun, who is in so much love with running, never thought it was a barrier or an obstacle to achieving his dream. As he has stated, he is passionate about running, and the runners amazed him. The dedication, effort, and energy of the runners inspired him. And to this, he added the never fading love towards the most valuable person.

The marathon winner reaches the finish line within the lowest time, and we all cheer and applaud! But what should we do when that winner is with an extra bit of weight still winning the race?

All of Eric’s efforts were for a worthy cause. He intended to raise awareness about his mother’s disease, which was a rare case. Silvia was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which damages nerve systems and cells in the brain and the spinal cord, making moving difficult. Eric was just seven years old when they received this sad news. As a person who saw the gravity of this disease, he decided to raise awareness through this marathon.

This combined afford not only improved Eric’s mental health but also helped the duo to bond more. It gave Silvia a sense of incredible freedom. She, too, becomes mentally healthy when seeing the surroundings and moving out with people as an average person.

They had one goal in mind! That is to set the Guinness record for the fastest marathon pushing a wheelchair. They could have achieved the goal at a time. Reaching the goal took them much practice, effort, and patience. In 2020 they failed; in 2021, they tried again with many participants worldwide who were indeed the fastest.

The attempt was not easy with the pandemic and all the other obstacles that came their way. But still, the determination, courage, and commitment were much more potent than any further disturbance.

Finally, the dream came true with a new world record!

Since then, this duo has continued to race to increase awareness of this disease. The campaign gained fame and support, and they were never alone.

The duo has stolen the hearts of many already. Eric has documented all the races and achievements on his Instagram page. You can easily follow the journey through a load of pictures. And if you go through the comment, you will see whom people have embraced their journey. All the comments contain good wishes and encouraging words that keep them going.

It is also essential to state that the funds raised through the campaign are wholly donated to research about multiple sclerosis, which will be a great move in medical history where many such parents will get the benefit later.
More than anything, the most powerful message is the love of this son for his mother, which is priceless!
